1. Char Minar

Originally a mud fort, it was later reconstructed in stone. Since then it has had a variety of additions by the various rulers of the area. The fortress is built on a 120 metres high granite hill surrounded by massive castled ramparts.

7. Birla Mandir
Here is something from my Trunk. I discovered this rather old (3 years) snap of Birla Mandir, Hyderabad while organising my album on Picasa. We had stopped by Hyderabad when returning from Kolkatta. I always make it a point to pay a visit to this temple while in the city. The other must stop destinations are the Salarjung Museum and the Golconda Fort. We were fortunate to see the exhibition of the nizams Jewels during our visit.
8. Chowmahalla Palace
The Chowmahalla complex which is a replica of the Shah’s Palace in Teheran, Iran today consists of two courtyards with elegant palaces, the grand Khilwat (the Durbar Hall), fountains and gardens. The oldest part of the complex currently under restoration, comprises of the four palaces Afzal Mahal, Mahtab Mahal, Tahniyat Mahal and Aftab Mahal. Of these the Aftab Mahal is the grandest of them all and is a two storied building with a European façade of Corinthian columns and a parapet without pediment. 9. Mecca Masjid
Mecca Masjid is also known as one of the largest Masjid in India. This masjid was constructed from bricks which was made from soil bore in from Mecca. Mecca Masjid, located very close to the Charminar at Hyderabad is the largest mosque of South India. Originally started by Sultan Mohammad Quli Qutb Shah, the mosque was completed by the Mughal Emperor and conquerer Aurangazeb. The mosque is said be have bricks brought from Mecca, built into the walls of the main arch and hence the name – Mecca Masjid. The mosque can accommodate upto 10,000 worshippers at prayer at a time. There is a room in the courtyard, which is believed to house the relic of the Prophet Mohammed.
